Tongue tied
they stared,
As the forgotten scars
started brewing again.
The memories of the war,
the blood, love, lust and betrayal;
Threatened to fire up...
Until he wiped off his ego,
along with the
embarrassed sweat
And said "I am sorry"
as she broke down in his arms.

DeleteDear Aditi,
ReplyDeletePoetic take on the prompt! Wonderful! How much we destroy with our ego and our clash of wills. And, as someone else has mentioned, for someone to admit that they are sorry takes a lot of courage, especially in a relationship. Beautifully done.
Thanks for writing and linking this up. Adore your post, as always :)
Shailaja
Thanks a ton Shailaja! :-*
DeleteGood one :) A sorry isn't that a big deal now is it? Given the path that waits ahead. Great take on prompt
ReplyDeleteThank you! Sorry is the hardest word to say at times, even though people know it can make things better! It becomes a big deal when our egos start to play!
DeleteWhen the ego is removed from a relationship, the bond becomes sweeter and stronger, lovely post.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sulekha! Wise words!
DeleteA lovely reunion, Aditi. It's amazing how much power that one has and yet we use it so sparingly.
