Every once in a while
I wonder, what if
I were you...
Born as twins,
yet separated by society
politely discriminated.
The clothes you wore,
the games you played,
the books you read, I envied!
Married off young, as it should be!
While you became a doctor,
proud they were to see!
You are a girl!
You are a girl!
Echoed everywhere, deafening me...
My heart ached all along
Trapped, one day I snapped
Rose from there, never looking back
I fought, Life taught
Every once in a while, I'm grateful I'm me
Today I teach girls alike, to be!

I think somewhere all women/girls have experienced varied amounts of discrimination. The memories faint for few lucky ones..few give in/adjust to the situation, few fight back...whatever the case...the way we respond become a part of who we are....It is time we put a stop to discrimination... However minute, we should stand up and say no!
